Opinion: Who’s guarding the pollution henhouse?

A recent audit of Utah’s Division of Radiation Control generated news coverage as well as some debate.  In an op/ed piece in the Salt Lake Tribune, University of Utah law professor Robert W. Alder posits a “logical and reasonable middle ground” for the state’s system that is directed to ensure “compliance with laws designed to protect us from radioactive wastes and from other sources of pollution.” Read the entire commentary in Sunday’s Salt Lake Tribune.

Alder is the James I. Farr chair and professor at the U’s S. J. Quinney College of Law. He has taught and practiced environmental law for over 30 years.
